Elizabeth "Betty" (Ferlan) Sekanic

Of Monroeville, formerly of North Braddock, age 97, passed away in her home on Monday, August 23, 2021.

Beloved wife of the late Steve Sekanic.

Loving mother of Kris Sekanic and Ken (Cathy) Sekanic, both of Monroeville.

Cherished grandmother of Amanda Sekanic of Monroeville.

Preceded in death by siblings; Helen Berick, Anna Fedor, Barbara Caputo, Katherine Ferlan, and Matthew Ferlan. 

Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Betty was employed in her early years by Acheson Steel in Braddock.  She was an avid gardener, reader, and enjoyed playing poker and solitaire, collecting recipes, and spending time outdoors.  Betty was a longtime member of St. Anselm Church in Swissvale and North American Martyrs Church in Monroeville.  Most of all, Betty cherished her many years as a home maker and was proud to have raised a beautiful family.

Friends are welcome Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350.  Masks are required in the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday in St. Colman Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish at 10 a.m.

Betty will be laid to rest in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
