Edward J. Fischer, Sr.

Lifelong resident of East Pittsburgh, age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Born the son of the late Walter Fischer and the late Mary Agnes (Hogue) Fischer.

Beloved husband of Cecelia (Jankovek) Fischer for 74 wonderful years.

Loving father of Cecelia (the late Mike) Lovis of East Pittsburgh, Cindy Caldarelli of North Braddock, Ed “Eddie” (Geri) Fischer, Jr. of East Pittsburgh, the late Carol (the late John) McIntyre, and the late Cathy (the late Mike) Polowsky.

Adored grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his siblings, Ella Lang, Charlotte Rhodes, and Charles Fischer.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ed was proud to have been a lifetime resident of East Pittsburgh.  He found immense joy in volunteering to coordinate the movie nights at the East Pittsburgh playground for all residents to enjoy. 

Ed was a devout catholic and longtime member of St. William and St. Helen Churches, where volunteer usher and served as a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was employed as a machinist for Mesta Machinery, and later the Union Railroad before eventually retiring.  Ed was also a dedicated member of the Turtle Creek Watershed Association for many years.  One trait many knew of Ed was his selfless nature, he was always willing to help those in need.  Most of all, Ed cherished the time spent with his soul mate, Cel, his children and all of his grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.
