Dorothy Fisher Obituary

Dorothy M. (Ackerman) Fisher, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 20, 2023, in Monroeville at the age of 91. Born on December 11, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Dorothy spent her life touching the hearts of those around her with her unwavering kindness and devotion to her family and community.

Dorothy's life was marked by her steadfast commitment to her family, which began with her husband, John H. Fisher, whom she married in 1951 after meeting him at a dance when she was just 14 years old. Together, they shared a love story that spanned 72 years and was an inspiration to all who knew them. Dorothy and John's bond was further strengthened by their shared love for their four children: Hope (John Gouveia) Jones of Castro Valley, CA, Paul (Roberta) Fisher of Discovery Bay, CA, Faith (James) Kachurik of Plum, and Christine (Robert) Strauss of Chalfant. As a mother, Dorothy instilled in her children the values of love, faith, and selflessness that would guide them throughout their lives.

Dorothy's love for her family extended to her role as a doting grandmother to 14 and great-grandmother to 7. She took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making each of them feel special and loved. Dorothy's dedication to her family was unwavering, and her presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her as a pillar of strength, love, and support.

Throughout her life, Dorothy found great joy in her many interests, which included going to their camp site in Donegal. These trips provided cherished memories for all who joined her, as she reveled in the beauty of nature and the joy of togetherness. Her passion for the outdoors was just one of the many ways she shared her love with those around her.

Dorothy was also an active volunteer at the Monroeville Senior Citizens Center, where she generously gave her time and energy to help others. Her selfless spirit and dedication to her community were a testament to her kindness and compassion, and she will be remembered for the countless lives she touched through her service.

In the wake of Dorothy's passing, her family and friends are left with a beautiful legacy of love, faith, and selflessness. Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Dorothy will be laid to rest with a private service.

As we say goodbye to Dorothy M. Fisher, we celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on those around her.
