Donald Rothrauff Obituary

A lifelong resident of North Braddock, died on Saturday, January 20, 2024, 19 minutes shy of his 88th birthday.

He was born on January 21, 1936, a son of Albert and Elizabeth (Cicco) Rothrauff.

He was the beloved husband of Patricia (McDonough) Rothrauff for 52 years.

Loving father of Rick (Becky) Rothrauff and the late Donald A. (surviving spouse, Sheila) Rothrauff, Jr.

Cherished grandfather of Derek (Amanda), Drew, Corrin, Victoria, Gabriella and Reese Rothrauff.

Proud great-grandfather of Emma and Zane.

Brother of the late Rita (late Jake) Ulaky.

Don is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

At the age of 18, Don joined the U.S.Marine Corps and served 3 years stateside during the Korean War. Although he had several employment opportunities, he was best known as a Police Officer for North Braddock. He began his career as a Patrolman on August 1, 1968 and retired 28 years later as a Captain in 1996.

Don was a member and volunteer of the F.O.P. Lodge #91, and he was a member of the Braddock Elks, Lodge #883.

In his spare time, Don loved to play golf and go fishing. He also enjoyed a good card game, particularly Pinochle, and trying his luck at slot machines. Above all, he appreciated any opportunity to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Friends are welcome Friday from 2-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Avenue at Cable Avenue, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800).

Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Fisher Church (St. Joseph the Worker Parish) on Saturday, January 27 at 10 a.m. Don will be laid to rest in the F.O.P. section of Braddock Cemetery in North Braddock.
