Dennis J. Fantaski, Ph.D.

Dennis J. Fantaski, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023, in Monroeville.

Dennis was the beloved husband of Nancy Brueck for 30 years.

He was the brother of Patty (late Walt) Mroziak of Allison Park, Daniel (Carol) Fantaski of Linesville, Johnette (John) Belechak of Edgewood and the late Thomas "Boomer' (late Jo Anne) Fantaski.

Dennis is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and his pet canine, Coco.

Dennis was a proud 1963 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of PA in 1968. He began his teaching career at Penn Hills High School where he also served as an assistant football coach. Dennis earned his Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dennis switched careers and entered the banking industry. He became Vice President of Dollar Bank, became Senior Vice President of United States National Bank in Johnstown, the President and CEO of Community Savings Bank in Monroeville and in 1995 became President of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He was the Group Vice President of Education Management Corporation.

Dennis was a longtime member of the Edgewood Country Club.

In his passing, we remember Dennis for the vibrant and intelligent man that he was and his love of a nice glass of wine.

Friends are welcome on Sunday from 3-7pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. John Fisher Church, Churchill (St. Joseph the Worker Parish) on Monday at 10 a.m.

Everyone is asked to gather at Church.

Dennis will be laid to rest privately in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
