Obituary of Denis G. “Denny” Grubbs

Of Turtle Creek, age 69, died peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Denis was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Donald E. and Mary “Sally” (Quinn) Grubbs.

He was the dear brother of Donald (Diane) Grubbs of Turtle Creek, Daniel (Dee Dee) Grubbs of North Huntingdon and Ellen (Tom) Knipfer of WI.

Denny was the proud uncle of Brittany Grubbs, Patrick Grubbs, Michael (Stacy) Grubbs, Steven (Gennie) Grubbs, George (Julie) Knipfer, Walter (Jess) Knipfer, Dennis (Annmarie) Knipfer, Mary Knipfer and Michael (Sarah) Bradley.

He is also survived by 14 great-nieces and great-nephews and many loving cousins.

Denny was a 1975 graduate of Eastern Area High School, and at the age of 16, became a volunteer fire fighter with the Turtle Creek Fire Department, demonstrating a remarkable sense of duty that defined him. His early start in fire service was not simply a brief chapter in his life, but the beginning of a lifelong calling. He spent many years as a volunteer with the Turtle Creek Fire Department and extended his service as an EMT with the former Turtle Creek Rescue 2.  In addition, he volunteered with the Monroeville Fire Department #3, continuing his commitment to serving others in need.

Denny also served his community through his work as a former employee of the Turtle Creek Borough Street Department, contributing to the well-being of the borough and the people who lived there.

Denny’s years of volunteer fire service, emergency response, and public work stand as a testament to his legacy of service to his community.

Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 3-7pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, PA 15145, (412) 823-9350 where a Fireman Service will be held at 6:30 p,m,, followed by a Blessing Service at 7 pm.

Denny will be laid to rest privately in Restland Cemetery.
