Hap was raised in the town of North Braddock and was a 1957 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School.  Then, he immediately began to work as a mechanic for Litman Motor Co. in Braddock and later International Harvester.  Hap began his final stretch of employment in 1994, when he began working for Peoples Gas/Dominion Resources, a job he held until his retirement.  Hap was a dedicated volunteer lifetime member of both the Swissvale Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Monroeville Volunteer Fire Dept.  Hap was well known for taking trips on his motorcycle and driving his Lincoln Town Car.  He enjoyed vacationing to Wildwood Crest, and most of all, Hap treasured the moments shared with all of his family and friends.
