Charles H. "Chuck" Watts

Of Wilkins Twp., age 74, died on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Watts, Sr. and Margaret (Sabota) Watts.

He is survived by his sister, Maureen (Ed) Onder of Penn Twp.; his brother, Timothy Watts of Wilkins Twp; his nephew, Brandon Onder; and his niece, Jessica Onder.

Chuck was a 1969 graduate of Turtle Creek High School. While in high school, at age 15, he began to learn to play the guitar. He received some help from his mother but was largely a self-taught musician. In 1969, he attended Woodstock and his career path was forever forged. Being a guitarist/musician became his career as he was widely known in Pittsburgh for his skill and ability as a guitarist. He formed several bands most notably “Icon” and “Split Lips”. His bands toured the nightlife circuit of Pittsburgh, playing at The Decade in Oakland and The Rex Theatre on the Southside, as well as other Classic Rock venues. One of the highlights of Chuck’s career occurred when “Split Lips” opened for the Doobie Brothers at the Civic Arena. He also was privileged to open for famed guitarist, Joe Bonamaso at The Rex. Chuck’s most treasured honor was bestowed in a national tribute contest for his idol, Jimi Hendrix. Chuck finished fourth as he performed live for the Hendrix family.
