Obituary of Charles E. “Chuck” DenBleyker

Of Edgewood, a Somerset County native, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

Chuck was the beloved and devoted husband of Jennie Thye.

He was the son of Philip DenBleyker, IV and the late Nancy Jo (Ankeny) DenBleyker.

Chuck was the treasured brother of Philip DenBleyker, V and partner Josh Butler of McCandless.

Chuck was a 2002 graduate of Rockwood High School in Somerset County. He then attended Robert Morris University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He furthered his education by securing his M.B.A. at Indiana University of PA.

Chuck was a man of many interests, simple pleasures and a quick wit. He found joy in the things that connected him to family, history, and the world beyond his own doorstep. He was a lifelong and long-suffering fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, following the team through seasons of hope and heartbreak.

He also loved to travel and held a special fondness for visiting National Parks. Over the years, he completed trips to 12 of them, taking great pleasure in hiking the trails, admiring the remarkable vistas, and experiencing nature at its purest.

 Chuck was also an enthusiastic cook. He especially enjoyed preparing Thanksgiving dinner for his family, a tradition that was his favorite meal to serve. He took pride in the meal, the gathering, and the opportunity to bring everyone together around the table. He loved trying new restaurants from fine dining to casual eateries to expand his palate.

Reading was another of Chuck’s pastimes, and he could often be found with a good autobiography or history book. He had a particular appreciation for the works of David McCullough, whose writing is admired for its depth and storytelling. Chuck also did his best to solve New York Times crossword puzzle and other word games.

 Chuck will be remembered for his love of family traditions, his interest in history and his enjoyment of travel.

There will not be a visitation. A private family service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
