Of Plum, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, January 5, 2026. She was preceded in death by her siblings Ronald DePastino, Alan DePastino, & Marlene Mort.
Mother to six beautiful children, Donna (Dave) Pellegrino, Robert (Patti) Capalongo, Debbie (Tom) Caruso, Anthony (Angela) Capalongo, Dan (Maria) Capalongo & Michael Capalongo. She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren that will continue to honor her legacy by cooking some of their favorite meals. Like, her famous sauce and meatballs, chicken noodle soup, & pasta e fagioli. Sunday dinners with her family were her favorite time of the week. If it wasn’t for her strong foundation & love for us, many of us wouldn’t be who we are today. She was blessed to have all her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren living near her & she spent time with them in the kitchen teaching them her recipes.
Carolyn was a strong-willed determined woman and while raising six kids & the road not being easy, she led them with her heart. She took pride in being a mother to her children, & an example to her grandchildren. Carolyn was a strong & faithful woman & her belief in God gave her peace. May she rest in Eternal Peace.
Per Carolyn’s request, arrangements are private to her immediate family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800.
