Of Manor, age 81, died peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024 at her home, with her family at her side.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Fred Whitney for 59 years.
She was the loving mother of Janet (Bill) Hetherington of Manor, Karen (Darrin) Miller of NC and Fred (Shelby) Whitney of North Huntingdon.
Betty was the cherished grandmother of Billy (Cassandra) Hetherington, Nicolas Hetherington, Luke Miller, Max Miller, Emily Whitney, Amanda Whitney and Jonathan Whitney.
She was the proud great-grandmother of Cassius, Cillian and Cleo Hetherington.
Betty was the dear sister of Shirley (Rich) Hochman of Elizabeth, the late Jack (surviving spouse, Nancy) Burkhart, late Margaret (late Chuck) Weishorn, late Bob Burkhart and the late Sharon Burkhart.
Betty was also preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret “Peggy” (Rodger) Burkhart.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a 1961 graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School and enjoyed her career as a dedicated Stay-At-Home Mom. She dearly loved her family and was known for bringing them joy and serving them wonderful meals for Sunday dinners. She also was the Holiday Hostess for all of the holiday celebrations. Betty also loved to shop and travel. She especially enjoyed her monthly stays with Fred in the Florida Keys and their frequent camping trips to Pymatuning.

Betty’s Mass of Christian Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
