Of the Oak Hill neighborhood of North Versailles, age 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
Born the daughter of the late William Megahan and the late Edna (Karl) Megahan.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph Smith.
Loving mother of Toni Jo Lane of North Huntingdon, Arlene (Ronald) Burger of Espyville, Sandra (Alan) Basa of North Versailles, Judy (William) Ryder of North Versailles, Nancy (Thomas) Maddamma of Espyville, Cathy Horvath of North Huntingdon, Joseph Smith of North Versailles, William (Sherri) Smith of Delmont, David (Julie) Smith of Espyville, Susan (Raymond) Slepsky of Irwin, Lori (Robert) Slepsky of Harrison City, and Robert Smith of North Versailles.
Cherished grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Dear sister of Joann Lazzo, Edna Wylie, Georgia Hartman, Edward Megahan, and Otto Megahan. Preceded in death by siblings, John, Ronald, Agnes, Louis, and William Megahan, Hazel Soles, and Martha Zambo.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with the staff members and friends from the Golden Heights Personal Care Home.
Ardeth was a 1946 graduate of Turtle Creek High School. She found joy in life by caring for the needs of others. Ardeth was a valued employee of the Little Peoples Daycare in Forest Hills for several years. She dedicated years as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department in North Versailles. Ardeth treasured the countless memories she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 2 - 6:30 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800, where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
