Obituary of Anthony Joseph Busija (a.k.a.“Tony the Bus”)

Of Turtle Creek, age 94, died on Saturday, February 15, 2025.

Tony was born on January 17, 1931 to Joseph and Anna (Kraljevic) Busija.

He was the beloved husband of the late Audrey (Hoffman) Busija.

Tony was the dear father of Diane (Jeff) Pembrooke of Level Green and also Darlene Busija and Daniel Busija, both of Turtle Creek.

He is survived by his grandsons Jeffrey D. Pembrooke, Robert A. Pembrooke, James Bentley and Damien Busija and also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tony was preceded in death by his siblings: Barbara, Catherine and Joseph Busija, Helen Novosel, Luby Lovis, Mary Papa and infant, Anna Busija.

Tony was a Korean War Army veteran. His career was with the floral industry in Pittsburgh. He worked many years for Menas Floral in East Pittsburgh and, upon the store closure, he became employed with Pennock Floral, a wholesaler in the Strip District. Tony loved to solve jigsaw puzzles and considered himself ‘quite the expert’ at it. He also enjoyed, and was adept at, crafting objects of art from scrap metal, paper and other commodities.

Tony spent his final years at Concordia in Monroeville and his family is grateful for the staff who took such great care of him and his needs.

All are welcome on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, PA 15145, (412) 823-9350 where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Tony will then be laid to rest with Military Honors at Good Shepherd Cemetery.
