Anna (Fekaris) Geanous passed peacefully, Saturday morning, May 6th, in her home at the age of 83.
Anna was born and raised in Pittsburgh and was a Pathology Technician at Presbyterian Hospital until she met the love of her life, Byron Geanous. Anna & Byron were married & Anna relocated with Byron to Erie.
After her husband Byron, passed away, Anna continued to reside in Erie, in raising her three children, Efthalia “Effie”, Kelly and Dean. Anna always made family a priority and always felt she was truly blessed to be a part of such two loving families of the Geanous’ and Fekaris’.
After her children became young adults & were settled in their college years and then careers in Pittsburgh, Anna wanted to be closer to them and moved back to Pittsburgh.
Anna was a devout Orthodox Christian and was involved in the church community and enjoyed being a part of Ypapanti’s YASOU. She always made faith a priority for herself and in raising her children and was full of such joy and happiness that as grown adults, they never fell astray from our Orthodox Faith.
She loved spending quality family time with Kelly and Dean and always looked forward to Effie’s visits with her dear friend, George Gregorich, creating loving fond memories.
Anna loved her sports and enjoyed watching “her” Steelers and The Pirates. She also enjoyed The Game Show Network.
Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Byron Geanous, her parents, Calliope and Constandinos Fekaris and her sister, MaryLou (Fekaris) Steneiker.
Anna is survived by her children, Efthalia “Effie”, Kelly, Dean, dear friend George, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday morning, May 9th from 10:00am - 12:00pm with The Funeral Service beginning at 12:00pm at The Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church, 1672 Electric Ave, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112.
Anna’s Funeral Service will be livestreamed on the Church Facebook page, Presentation of Christ (Ypapanti) Greek Orthodox Church.
Private interment will be held at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, Erie, PA
Anna valued education. In lieu of flowers, her family is requesting memorial donations to be made to The Nick George Scholarship Fund, c/o The Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church, “Ypapanti”, 1672 Electric Ave, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112. Also, memorial donations requested to be made to Philoptochos or The Agape Fund c/o Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 985 Providence Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
