Angela "Angie" DeMaria Obituary

Angela "Angie" (Kitas) DeMaria, of Chalfant, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on February 4, 1951, in Glassport to the late Steve Kitas and the late Clementine (Ranelli) Kitas.

Beloved wife of Thomas W. DeMaria for 47 wonderful years.

Loving mother of Jessica (Ronald) DeMaria-Wabby of Munhall and Kari (Jarrod Coury) DeMaria of Mechanicsburg.

Cherished Nana of her twin granddaughters, Bailey and Charley.

Dear sister of Tom (Krisann) Kitas.

Sister-in-law of Jerry (the late Gina) DeMaria.

Also survived by nieces, nephews, and countless friends of both Angie and Tom.

Angie's journey began as a student at South Allegheny High School, where she graduated in 1969. Her passion for education led her to West Virginia University, where she earned an Associate's Degree in Education.  For over 20 years, Angie served as a teacher's aide in the Woodland Hills School District, working primarily at Shaffer Elementary and Rankin Intermediate. Known affectionately as "Mrs. D" by the countless students she impacted, Angie's caring attitude and unwavering support left an indelible mark on the community.

Angie would often travel with Tom, Jessie, and Kari to Tom’s softball games, where she loved creating cherished memories and forming long lasting friendships with many other families, and found joy seeing the children all having fun together. Angie's love for excitement often found her trying her luck at the casino, something she always enjoyed.

However, it was at home where Angie's heart truly resided. She loved having their home as the cornerstone to family gatherings and preparing many delicious meals.  Jessie and Kari grew up in a home brimming with love and laughter, a testament to Angie's devotion as a mother.

The title of Nana, however, was perhaps the one she cherished most. Her twin granddaughters, Bailey and Charley, were the greatest joy in her life. Angie treasured every moment with them, and her legacy of love will undoubtedly live on through their memories.

Those who knew Angie will remember her as a loving, kind, and courageous soul. She faced life's challenges with grace and always managed to find the silver lining in every cloud. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
