My sincere condolences to Connie’ s family. Connie has been a special woman to know at OLOJ. I enjoyed singing with her in the Contemporary Ensemble. Her participation at OLOJ did not stop there as she also was a beautiful cantor and helped with the church decorating. Her talents were many. I always felt comfortable with her and found her to be very upbeat despite her illness. She has had a lasting impression on me as a woman of God. She certainly has given glory to God through her life. I will miss you, Connie, but I know you now sing in heaven.

I graduated in 1996. Although it was over 20 years ago I have never forgotten the profound impact Mrs. Vaskov had in my life. Not only was she a kind, patient, & talented teacher; she was an amazing person who reached out and gave me a reason to go to school in years when I was personally struggling. Thank you for sharing her with all of us students over the years. She really did change lives. My deepest sympathies. Diane (Gossar) Kerrigan

I had Mrs. Vaskov for art at St. James and I'm sad to hear of the passing of such a lovely woman. She always had a smile on her face and a kind attitude towards the students. I remember her teaching us painting techniques, cheering her daughter on during basketball games, and her beautiful singing voice. I ran into her as several years back and she was so proud to tell me that Nick had become a priest! It was always clear how much she loved her kids. Sending love and prayers to her family.

Tia and Nick, please accept my heartfelt sympathy. Since I have such vivid and wonderful memories of you, Tia, in class, on our New York trip where I was almost late for the curtain for Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk, and the Shakespeare drawing you did for the English department, you have always had a special place in my heart. Father Nick, I remember you from your time at Oakland Catholic and the little chat we had before a graduation when you started as Bishop Zubic's secretary (I believe that is the right position)You are so wonderful and that can only be because your mother was so wonderful. I hope I can come to either the funeral home or the Mass. My prayers are with both of you.

Dear Gene, Tia, Nick,
Very saddened to read of Connie's passing. So full of life, so loving, fun, talented, always smiling. I worked with Connie at PTHS, she was a joy to be with. Remember celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary at a bar in Swissvale where she and a friend entertained with guitars and singing. She had her wedding album with pictures of the day, all her siblings lined up with her at the lead. It was a blessing to be included, but she always included everyone. Her faith a model for all. May you and all who knew Connie find peace at this difficult time.
