John Prestogeorge of Churchill, age 83, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010. John was a WW II Army/Air Corps veteran and was trained and served as a Meteorological Tech.
John was a master of coffees and teas and founded Prestogeorge Fine Foods in the Strip District, where he still worked most every day. He opened his first store in the Miracle Mile Shopping Center in Monroeville in the early 1960’s. John later relocated to the Greengate Mall in Greensburg, before settling at his current location in the Strip District, 30 years ago. John was a faithful servant of God as a lifetime and active member of his beloved church, Ypapanti, the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church in East Pittsburgh.
Beloved husband of Christine (Dimitriou) Prestogeorge for 50 years.
Loving father of three sons, Chris of MD., Stan (Adrienne) of Wilkins Twp. and Ted (Maria) of Scranton.
Dear grandfather of Leah, Andrew John and Madeleine Prestogeorge.
Brother of Irene Stefanos of Oakmont, the late George and late Selma Prestogeorge.
Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends welcome on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home 700 Linden Ave., East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800) where a Trisagion will be prayed on Monday at 7:30p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held in Ypapanti on Tuesday 11a.m. Viewing in church ½ hour prior to service.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in Grandview Cemetery, North Versailles.
Memorial donations may be made to Ypapanti, P.O. Box J, East Pittsburgh, Pa. 15112.
