Obituary of Eugene “Gene” Horcholic

Of Murrysville, age 74, on Thursday September 17, 2015.

Gene was the beloved husband and best friend of Diana DeStefano for 47 years;

Loving father of Dana (Jerry) Chismar of Eastmont, and Leah (Fiancé, Rome Cross) Horcholic of Plum;

Cherished brother of Elsie (the late Lou) Caputo of Swissvale, and Dolores (Fritz) Hoffman of Livingston, NJ;

Endearing uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Gene was the son of Joseph and Anna Horcholic and is preceded in death by his late sister Dorothy Nutz.   

Gene was an electrician for over 45 years and a member of the Local #5, Electrical Union (IBEW). He lived a very generous and charitable life. He was especially prideful of his Slovak heritage and enjoyed a good polka. Gene had a great love for others and was very family oriented.

Gene will be laid to rest privately with Military Honors at Homewood Cemetery. A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at The Clubhouse at the Village of Clover Ridge (300 Ridge Ln, Murrysville, PA 15668, (724) 327-9220) on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 3 PM.

Memorial donations can be made payable to The American Diabetes Assoc. (1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311; http://www.diabetes.org/), the Westmoreland County Food Bank (100 Devonshire Dr, Delmont, PA 15626; http://westmorelandfoodbank.org/) or the Salvation Army (1101 5th Ave, New Kensington, PA 15068; http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/).
