Of Level Green, age 92, on Friday, January 24, 2014.

 Beloved husband of Dorothy M. (Baker) Westwood for 65 years.

 Loving father of Robert (Carol) Westwood of Somerset and Benjamin F. (Holly) Westwood, III of Plum.

 Grandfather of Kelli (Brooke) Testa and Robert (Meghan) Westwood; Benjamin IV, John and the late Nicholas Westwood.

 Also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.

 Ben was a 1939 graduate of Trafford High School, attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He joined the Navy in 1942 and became a Corpsman serving in the South Pacific during WW II. While in the Navy, he received his Funeral Director's license in 1943. After WW II, Ben became employed at Westinghouse in Forest Hills and later, Churchill R.& D. In 1970 he and his work group were credited with the development of a Heart Assist device that was revolutionary in the field of cardiac surgery. He retired in 1981 and pursued his love of golf as a member of Irwin Country Club.

 Friends welcome  Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home, Turtle Creek/Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave. at James St., Turtle Creek 412-823-9350 . Ben's funeral service and subsequent burial in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be private.
