WELCOME TO OUR FUNERAL HOME

site image

When John H. Lanigan started this funeral home in 1905, even in his most vivid imagination, he could not have envisioned the concept of a website, let alone indoor plumbing, radio, horseless hearses, vaccinations, men on the moon or cell phones and computers.

We decided to make our website different than most funeral home websites. Some of the pages offer similar information as other funeral home websites such as our History, our Services, our Staff and a page for Preplanning a Funeral on-line. We think those pages of our information are very interesting, but we have some pages not found on most funeral home websites

OUR PHILOSOPHY OF SERVICE

  • All of our resources and energies are dedicated to serving and meeting the needs of families.
  • We are committed to our local communities and know local customs, traditions and preferences.
  • Licensed Pennsylvania Funeral Directors personally handle all arrangements and direct all funerals.

Our caring and experienced staff are here to help you through this difficult time. We can help you plan a personal lasting tribute that will honor the life of those that have passed away. You can call us any time of the day, any day of the week, and we will be there for you. We here at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. have received the Pursuit of Excellence Award, recognizing the longevity and consistency of our funeral and cremation service. We offer our services in these areas: Monroeville, North Versailles, Penn Township, North Huntingdon Township, and Edgewood, PA.

AT YOUR CONVENIENCE

Funeral services are held when and where you want them including evenings and Sundays. We can make arrangements to hold services in non-traditional locations that are of special significance to a family or individual.

We will come to your home to make arrangements at your convenience. Travel and shipping arrangements can be made to, or from, virtually anywhere in the world.

Gatherings after funerals can be accommodated with catering at a private residence or use of special rooms in restaurants.

We can arrange for special transportation for family members who may be invalid or need special assistance. We can provide transportation to and from the funeral home whenever needed to make arrangements.

News in Turtle Creek/Monroeville

We are pleased to announce the completion of our building addition in 2007 which enhanced and expanded our Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel. This location now has 3 spacious visitation suites with a coffee room and children's room.

Funeral Service has changed in the Turtle Creek / Monroeville Vicinity.  On November 21, 2007, the Lanigan Family completed the purchase of the John L. Quinlan Funeral Home, Inc. in Turtle Creek. We are honored and equally humbled to continue the service that Jack Quinlan began in 1936, and return the firm to family, local ownership.

We believe families will benefit, not only with our newly enlarged and enhanced Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, but because we are the only area funeral home to:

* Receive the Pursuit of Excellence Award from the National Funeral Directors Association. For 25 consecutive years, we have earned this award which recognizes education, excellence and ethics and, in 2018, our funeral home was presented the "Best of the Best Award".
* Sponsor a Grief Support Group. For over 20 years, we have sponsored our monthly Grief Support Group.  For over 25 years, The Group was facilitated by Dr. Barbara Coyne who had helped countless area folks in their grief. For the past 4 years, our facilitator has been Jill Henkel Kazour, Professional Counselor.
* Sponsor a Holiday Service of Remembrance that is open to anyone.

* Host a bus trip for WWII Veterans to visit the WWII Memorial and Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

MORE ON OUR WEBSITE

There is a page on an exclusive story about funeral service that appeared in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette in May, 1998, in which our funeral home and staff were featured. We were open to the writer spending 4 days with us to report a typical funeral process from the time we received the call of death until the dessert was served at the post-funeral luncheon. We think the story was most candid and well-written and included unique photography. We are pleased to share it on our website.

Don't take our word for it; take the word of the families  we serve. All funeral homes can tout their caring ways and compassionate service. Most are proper in doing so, for they wouldn't exist without those. We, however, are pleased to "toot our own horn" because we are posting survey results of our service that have been accrued over the past 18 months. We subscribe to the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association program of "Family Service Evaluation." Each and every family that calls upon us for service is sent a questionnaire with 12 questions evaluating our funeral home and services. They respond anonymously to PFDA and we receive the results of each evaluation. We are pleased to share these results with you on our web page. Just click on Family Survey Results.

Another page that we are very proud to offer is our Grief Support page. We have provided professional grief support and bereavement support groups to families since 1986. Lanigan Funeral Home was the first funeral home in the eastern Allegheny County to offer this type of outreach support. In fact, we are still pleased to be one of the few in all of Allegheny County to offer grief support, free to all, on a monthly basis.

Click on Grief Support and learn about our monthly Grief Support Group that is facilitated by Jill Henkel Kazour, Professional Counselor. Also in our "Special Annual Programs" page, you will learn about our Christmas Service of Remembrance, our Valentine's Day Luncheon with our newly widowed, and our annual Widower's Luncheon.
