John E. "Jack" Kasprisin Obituary

John Edward “Jack” Kasprisin, age 83, born March 26, 1941 preceded in death by his parents John A. Kasprisin and Margaret R. Kasprisin (Ulaky), entered eternal rest on April 19, 2024. He passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Amherst, Ohio next to his wife Sherry.  Jack was a wonderfully loving and supportive father to daughters Jacquelyn (Darrin) and Julee (Milo), brother of Dr. Arlene (late Dana) Kasprisin and Ret. Col. Ken (Michelle) Kasprisin, and uncle to Stephen, Jennifer, Jonathan, Christine, and Sean.  Jack was the devoted husband, companion, and life partner of Sherry Brewer.

Jack was born and raised in the steel mill town of North Braddock where he was a star football player for North Braddock Scott High School.  Upon high school graduation, his football career took him to Rutgers University, then to the University of Dayton. He was the Distinguished Military Graduate of his 1964 ROTC class and received a RA commission as an Officer in the U.S. Army.  He served in both Infantry and Military Intelligence (Counter Intelligence) branches and earned numerous awards and decorations including Parachutist, Senior Parachutist, and Jumpmaster badges, Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, and a Bronze Star with V device for Valor during combat operations.  Jack served his country in Vietnam making a combat airborne jump with the 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sky Soldiers) and participated in numerous military operations throughout the Iron Triangle region, including Operation Junction City.

Jack ultimately resigned his Army commission to pursue a Law degree at Cleveland State University and proceeded to practice law for many years in both the public and private sectors.  He ultimately retired from the Public Utilities Commission.

Jack was fiercely independent and was a lifelong adventurer and fearless outdoorsman with many interests - a real "man's man". He always enjoyed a lively debate and was an avid reader. Jack had a commanding and charismatic personality that garnered attention in any room.

The date and time for a memorial service and celebration of life have not yet been established but are projected for late summer or early fall.

Rest in peace, family warrior.

Your family and friends will forever miss you.
